Andrychów
is a vibrant culture centre with a number of interesting annual events. Most of
them are organized by the Centre of Culture and Leisure Activities. Among the best
known are:
Piostur Gorol Song - the
national festival of tourist and poetic songs
Odeon - the national festival
of amateur street theatre groups
The
National Ballroom Dancing Competition
Andrychów is a strong jazz centre of the Podbeskidzie
region, visited by jazz fans from Silesia and Little Poland to see their
favourite jazz stars from Poland and abroad.
Jazz music is popularised by the
Pod Basztą club founded in 1994 and run by Jerzy Górka. This famous club -which
attracts the vanguard of both Polish and International jazz scene, including
Bill Evans, Frank Gambale, Bill Bruford, Victor Bailey, Michał Urbaniak,
Urszula Dudziak, and many more - can be found in the beautiful cellar of the
Bobrowskis' Palace.
This historic palace also houses the Regional Museum with
exhibits that bear witness to the history of the region.
The nearby Pasja
gallery exhibits art work by the local artists.
